What Are YouTube Cards?
YouTube cards are made to add interactivity to your videos. They're an interesting resource that encourages your viewers to take action in the direction you want. The great thing is that, depending on the type of card you choose, you can show customized titles, images and CTAs, and add any specific link you want to promote.
You can choose from 6 types of cards: channel cards, donation cards, fan funding, link cards, poll cards, and video or playlist cards. Of course, the type you choose must be aligned with your marketing goals. Keep that in mind. Last but not least: you can add up to 5 cards per video.

3 Uses To Increase Your Leads With Your Marketing Video
And now...the icing on the cake. How can you use cards for lead generation? Let me give you some ideas…
#1: Link to related material
A great way of using YouTube cards is to link to any other piece of content that is related to the video. That piece of content should have, ideally, a “gate”, so that you can get the client´s information before they can go on to reading the content. A card that promotes related material is a useful way to get more leads, as it encourages the viewers to opt for some additional information they're probably interested in.
#2: Encourage viewers to subscribe to your newsletter
You can also use YouTube cards to invite your viewers to sign up to your newsletter and consequently, grow your email list. Have in mind that email marketing is a great way not only to keep you audience informed about your business, but also to lead them through your sales funnel.
#3: Drive traffic to your website
YouTube cards are also used to redirect viewers to your website. Based on the content of the video, you can link to your home page or to a specific page of your website, so that the viewer can get complementary information about it. Make sure you let them know what you want them to do once they're there. Don't lose that unique opportunity!
The Importance Of A/B Testing
You really have to carry out A/B tests to optimize any marketing initiative you're running. Video marketing is not the exception. It's always recommendable that you do some testing in order to evaluate what the best moments of your video are to place the cards. Of course, you have to bear in mind the length of the video and the information you bring throughout it, and choose what works best: second 15? second 30? second 45? Do some tests and optimize the use of cards. Are you ready to start using YouTube cards? Are you already using them? Share your feedback with us in the comments below!
