WHAT WILL VIDEO CONTENT BRING IN THE NEAR FUTURE?
Several studies and reports have revealed interesting statistics and predictions about the future of online marketing, and specifically about video content.
For instance, by 2018 nearly 90% of the world´s Internet traffic will be in the form of video.
VIDEO WILL GET ALL THE ATTENTION ON SOCIAL MEDIA
First, let´s analyze the current scenario: Nielsen and Facebook carried out a study in which they uncover interesting data. They stated that -during the first 10 seconds- marketing videos on Facebook:
● Increase brand awareness up to 65%.
● Boost purchase intent up to 72%.
● Enhance video recall up to 74%.
Twitter is also going for video. Promoted video ads, native video player, and video embedding are just some of the alternatives this platform offers…and will keep on delivering more. The giants YouTube and Google have also announced news around this space and are emphasizing the power of video marketing.
Now, talking about the future, social networking users are expected to grow by more than 70% between 2014 and 2017. Moreover, Cisco predicts that consumer internet video traffic will grow from 64% in 2014 to surpass 80% by 2019, with consumer video on demand traffic doubling by 2019. In the near future, consumers will communicate using video both in private messages, but also to talk with brands. And brands will also leverage from video content to reach their audiences in the way they want and expect. Video will rapidly become the major form of online communication. We all can glimpse that trend even now…Mark Zuckerberg himself claimed: “if you look in the future a lot of the content that people share will be video, and videos fit very well into our newsfeed”.
THE FUTURE IS MOBILE
By 2018, 90% of the global Internet traffic will be occupied by video (including regular IP, online TV, video on demand and P2P). Besides this, 66% of all mobile data traffic will come from mobile video accounts. Do you need more data? According to Cisco, between 2014 and 2019, mobile data traffic is expected to grow at three times the rate of fixed IP traffic.
