So today we’ll tell you the 3 steps you need to follow to make an animated marketing video script.

1. Define your audience

The key piece in making a marketing video script is having a clear target audience. It is not the same to write a script video for a retired 70 year-old lady than it is for a 45 year-old businessman.

The way of speech, themes discussed and the overall plot need to be created for your target audience.

2. Use the classical script structure

Hollywood movies have been using this technique for scriptwriting for a really long time, from classic hits like Casablanca to current blockbusters like The Avengers.

And of course we’re talking about the simple and classical script structure, which consist of three acts: beginning, middle and end.

  • ● Beginning or “What” – In this stage the scriptwriter has to focus only and exclusively on WHAT the audience’s problem is. Here everything is about them, don’t even mention your brand name, or at least not yet.
  • ● Middle or “How” – Now is the time to make your brand look like the savior of the day, and explain HOW your product or service can solve your target audience’s problems. It’s only here when you say your brand name for the first time and even show the logo if you want.
  • ● End or “Why” – Here, say WHY your product is the option to go for among the competition. It’s the moment to show what makes you stand out and to mention your product’s features.

Sometimes the “How” and the “Why” can have the same answer. If this is your case, don’t worry it’s completely normal.

3. Be concise

The video shouldn’t last more than 2 minutes (we always recommend 90 seconds), otherwise people will get bored and they won’t watch it till the end. A great formula to measure your script time in video is to have in mind that 180 written words are equal to one minute. So, for a 90-second video, it will about 240 words.
