Want some awesome marketing news for next year? Want Mark Zuckerberg himself to give it to you?
Ok, read on and learn what Facebook has to offer you for your 2015 social media strategy!
During Facebook's third-quarter earnings, Mark Zuckerberg (in case you live on Mars, I’m talking about this young tycoon Facebook CEO) spoke up and announced one of the greatest news marketers could hope for 2015: Facebook is finally going to turn its efforts towards video marketing!
Most online marketers are already aware that video is one of the most engaging types of content on the Internet nowadays and that’s one of the reasons why the use of marketing videos, such as animated explainer videos, has grown so much in popularity.
"Most of the content on Facebook is content that people are sharing with their friends and the people around them," Zuckerberg said. "If you go back five years, most of the content was text. Now a lot of it is photos and if you look in the future a lot of the content that people share will be video. It's just very compelling."
Zuckerberg’s statement is not just great inspiring news for brands which are already using marketing videos in their online campaigns, but it’s also a powerful eye-opener for the rest of online marketers who were skeptical about integrating video into their next year’s social media strategy. In other words, if you have not given marketing videos a chance yet, I believe now it’s the time to move ahead.
"Videos fit very well into the newsfeed form factor that people consume on Facebook. I think we're going to see a lot of user-generated and public-content videos, and it's going to be an evolution over the next few years” - the Facebook CEO added.
Speaking on behalf of most online businesses, we know for a fact that planning a video marketing strategy for Facebook is quite tricky and extremely expensive. The social network has incorporated video ads recently, but it’s not an affordable service for most advertisers to promote their marketing videos (the cost of premium video ads ranges from 1 to 2.5 million dollars a day). But these few striking words from the owner of the world’s largest social network puts a light at the end of the tunnel for most marketers… and that light comes from a screen with a play button on it!
Video marketing in social media is a relatively new trend that had a stunning lift a few months ago with the Promoted Video Ads beta program on Twitter and the Sponsored Video move in Pinterest. Now Facebook is joining the gang and marketers are expecting a massive advance in this matter by 2015.
The question is: Do you have your marketing videos ready?
We hope that this breaking news is useful to your brand in order to help you get your social media strategy ready for next year. It’s going to be social video madness!
